The downright EXTREME 1on1 Mapping challenge
- Wednesday, October 1, 2008
(UT)
A mapping competition has surfaced that places more emphasis on Unique and out-there gameplay that no one has ever encountered before.

The map can be for any Unreal game and any unreal gametype. The only constraint is that the map plays well under 1-on-1 conditions.
For in-depth details see the forum thread.

UTComp3 v3 beta2

News just in - those who just downloaded UTComp 3 v3 beta1 are going to have to download beta 2 already!

UTComp3 v3 beta2

UTComp3 v3 beta2 has just been released by Faust.

It is hot on the heels of beta1 which not many people have downloaded. In fact some of the people frequenting the NozUT servers would have downloaded beta 1 just last night!

The highlights of v3 is... wait for it... Ping Compensation. Yep. And client-side demo recording. Which according to an old post by Wartourist from back in late 2007 that I happened to stumble upon was *never* meant to work.

Here it is: http://files.filefront.com/UTCompIIIv3+beta2rar/;11660991;/fileinfo.html

Major changes:

beta2:
added utcomp features in demorecords, except forcemodels. Should work brightskins, hitsounds,
custom crosshairs and weapons stats in clientside and server demos.
serverside demos forced to 1rd view and hide weapon.

beta1:
Added ping compensation functionality.
Added client side demorecording.
Added compatibility with linux beta patch3 bugs.

Known issues:
demo recording not completed, some hud info's and game effects missed.

MapMixer Alpha v3.00 Released
- Thursday, June 19, 2008
(Unreal Tournament 3)

sinx, the MapMixer surgeon, has done it again. In the face of adversity, sinx has been able to rise above all the odds and deliver us yet another version of the legendary award winning UT map mixing software. Dedicated to releasing nothing short of the best quality UT Tool possible, MapMixer for UT3 is a must have mutator that will not disappoint.

Get the Alpha version 3.00 (920k) of MapMixer for UT3 right here!

MapMixer 3 for UT3 is still in development, however Alpha Version 3 has now been made publicly available for download and evaluation.

Although there is currently no documentation, those familiar with MapMixer for UT2K3 and UT2K4 shouldn't have a problem, however there is some important information in the enclosed ReadMe file and everyone is *strongly* encouraged to read it!

UT3 has provided numerous serious challenges in the development of MapMixer 3 and thus has taken a little longer to get off the ground.  The whole mod has been completely re-written from scratch and almost every feature has been re-worked and expanded upon in some form, to make it even more flexible.  While the core concepts of MapMixer remain, it's not just a simple port of version 2 for UT2K4.

Everyone is encouraged to give the alpha version a go, as it appears quite stable considering it is a work in progress.  Feel free to leave feedback or suggestions at the MapMixer forum.

    Diablo 3 Countdown.....
    - Monday, April 21, 2008
    (General)
Over at http://www.blizzplanet.com/, they have a countdown which ends May 3rd, this is meant to be the date of either news about the game or possibly a release date of D3, but i doubt it.
I can't imagine them being able to keep this one so quiet.

At http://diablo3.com, they have a countdown to "The number of days until half the web links to Diablo3.com. But why???"

Could it really be true? Could we finally be playing another game? One can only pray/hope it's not as disappointing as HGL was.
